Hello my loves 💕, I am back with an update on the past 2 weeks.
About a week and a half ago we, Polkky Kuusamo💚, had our home tournament. We spent time switching people around, trying to see what works best for us. We were able to see what we will look like this year. We ended up winning the tournament. We played a total of 4 games and won them all. 🏆 Following that we participated in a tournament in Poland. (3 days later) Travel was very long, but we had a great time. We finally met Nina, our 12th player. She plays on the Croatia National Team and she is now with us for the season. It’s exciting to finally have everyone. It was our first time meeting, practicing, and playing with her. 🏐🏐
We ended up playing 3 teams. A home team, a team from Ostrava, and a team from Belarus. We played the team from Ostrava twice on Thursday, which were more like practice games. Those games we split, 1 and 1 . Once the tournament began, we beat every team including the Ostrava team we split with earlier in the week. In other words, WE WON THE TOURNAMENT!! 🏆🥇🤩
During the week, we took several trips to Forum. Forum is an shopping center that includes a grocery store. There we were able to get snacks for the week. The grocery store was also very cheap, so some of the girls and I stocked up on things that we needed or that are expensive here in Kuusamo. For example, shampoo, body wash, detergent, lotion, or toothpaste. 🧴
During the week I had some trouble sleeping 💤 and a mild migraine. The food we were eating for lunch and dinner were quite different and may have had a lot to do with that. Speaking of food….
Most of the food was very interesting. Dill seemed to be very popular in that area or at least at that hotel. The breakfast was great with several different options. Most places I have been in Europe serves runny or water eggs. Personally I don’t like my eggs watery so I stuck with the fried eggs🍳. Also, of course coffee was an option. ☕️
For dinner, I could have probably used some hot sauce or a packet of Sazon. 🧂 (If you don’t know what Sazon is, you are missing out). But the hospitality was great. As far as drinks 🍹 , Ice is not very popular either, so if you don’t like your drinks room temp I would advice you to ask for ice ask often.
On our last day (our off day) we toured Krakaw for a few hours. Mostly to eat the ice cream 🍦 . HAHA It was great to be able to get back there and see such a familiar place. I know it isn’t home, but in some way it warmed my heart.
The week was sooo long, but it was much needed. With a new team and new staff it gave us a chance to get to know eachother and talk more and bond over commonalities. I found out I was able to talk to Anna, Jess, and Jonna (teammates) about Game of Thrones (y’all know I am a fanatic). I can’t tell you how excited I was. I really enjoyed the time with them on and off the court, but I was also very much excited to come home. Overall the experience was fun and there was a lot of team bonding. 🥰🥰
Today we had a calendar photo shoot. We did a group photo and individual photos for each month. Keep tuning in to see how it turns out. 😌 (I’ll upload some sneak peak photos) —you can also check my Instagram. 🙃
P.S- I made a video with my roommates trying some Finnish candy and brands, Ill upload that soon. 😋🍬🍫🍭
