One Week Later...

I've been in Kuusamo for 10 days. So far it is great. I have met most of the ladies I will be playing with and I cant wait to see what this year has in store for us. I have completely recovered from the jet lag and the 8 hour time difference. The 8 hours do kind of suck because during the morning time here my family has just began to fall asleep. So I don't have very many people to talk to during the day. I spend that time practicing, napping, reading books and doing puzzles. When it is time for me to go to bed, Its around 3pm back in Texas, so I try hard not to stay up too late talking to everyone so I can get plenty of rest.

My apartment is nice. I share it with 3 of my teammates, yes they speak english. Haha, most people ask that. I have my own room and bathroom as well as closets and seating space. We share a kitchen and a small living area where we can gather and talk and play games. My bed is a a twin and it feels like I am kind of back to freshmen year of college, but its not very common to find full beds here, at least that is what I am told.😏I like the twin, Ive gotten used to it quickly. Part of it feels kind of homey because its so small and in a corner, feels more like a safe space. We have a washer, its pretty small and we do not have a dryer. Which I hear is also not very common. In the states I am so used to having full beds and dryers that I don't think about what a privilege it is to have one, because I don't necessarily need it.

The area is very small, but nice. It is very peaceful here and calm. So far that has been my favorite part. I think I will love it as far as a a place for a first year abroad. It will make a great transition to what I hope to do in the future. The weather her has surprisingly been nice. I am excited to experience a few more summer days before it gets too cold. 😊

I have been grocery shopping and found some interesting things that are pretty good. I could show you guys some brands, I was thinking of making a recording of trying some snacks and candies and telling you guys what they taste like. Incase you have see that brand as you travel abroad. I have found most of the chocolate in places taste 10X better than in the states. So thats is good, HA! Unfortunately, I have already asked my mom to send me a box. Actually she just sent one that I haven't received but I asked to send another one full of snacks. Yeah I know, Im spoiled 🤷🏾‍♀, what can I say?? I also just like receiving things in the mail from family and friends, it reminds me of home and how much my family and friends love and care about me. 🤗

Anywyas, soon I will give you details on our upcoming season and my big trip I want to plan for Christmas Break. Feel free to take a few guesses or make some suggestions....✌🏾

Love 💕,

Jay
